Congestive Heart Failure

Christ Hospital's Doctors On Video - Congestive Heart Failure
Five million Americans have congestive heart failure (CHF). It is a chronic and often undiagnosed condition that can be life-threatening. CHF is not curable, but can be managed through a variety of treatment options.

Congestive heart failure is a weakness of the heart from high blood pressure or heart attack. Blood does not effectively pump throughout your body and you may experience shortness of breath, leg or abdominal swelling and fatigue.

The Carl H. & Edyth Lindner Heart Failure Treatment Center at The Christ Hospital is the only one of its kind in the region and one of only a few such centers in the country that provides truly integrated care for heart failure patients. The 28-bed unit, located on the seventh floor of The Christ Hospital, offers state-of-the-art care; reduced length of hospital stay; and decreased hospital readmission for heart failure.

The Lindner Heart Failure Treatment Center has two dedicated full-time cardiologists who implement best practice guidelines for care as well as cutting-edge technologies for treatment of heart failure patients. Before hospital discharge, the patient, family and caregiver will receive education on medications, disease state, exercise, rehabilitation and support groups. The Heart Link Program at The Christ Hospital is a unique tool to help patients with heart failure transition from the hospital to home.
